The OISC has published its proposals to address equality over the next four years. The most significant change is the recognition that it will need to amend the language used in its own internal and external communication. The changes in wording are necessary in order to demonstrate understanding of the context and breadth of the range of marriage and civil partnerships, such as to avoid using terms such as husband and wife. It also recognises the need to update language in relation to describing sexual orientation.
