The past few years has seen an acceleration of anti-migrant and refugee rhetoric- none more so than by the government. This has led to harmful immigration policies like the Nationality and Borders Act. A policy that has torn up the rights of refugees, and introduced ‘offshore processing’ through its deal with Rwanda. The NABA and the Rwanda plan will inadvertently create a growing population that remains hidden in the depths of our society because they fear being forcibly removed and denied the refugee protections they deserve. 

We will stand in solidarity with these communities, championing their legal and political campaigns that rally against these policies. 

With poverty on the rise, an intersectional approach to our work and campaigns is more important than ever. This strategy emerges in the midst of a cost of living crisis that has little sign of disappearing or being resolved. We do not need to look far to understand who is going to be the hardest hit with the increase in living costs against a backdrop of stagnant and low wages, and the no recourse to public funds (NRPF) policy.

We will raise awareness of these campaigns with our networks, partners and social media followers. Where we can add value, we will share information with these campaigns as to how the NRPF policies further drive migrants into poverty amidst this ‘crisis’.
